After reading and listening about the life of Jackie Pullinger, I question the entire way that we Christians of the Western world class live our lives.
She speaks about living our lives fully given over for the work of Jesus Christ that is to be with the poor, the widow, and the sinner. She teaches that these are the one ready to receive the gospel and the ones that truly need Jesus.
In her book, Chasing the Dragon, Jackie Pullinger tells how she had a desire to go somewhere and go tell people about Jesus. She went on a boat and found herself in Hong Kong without money, without knowing the language, only a heart filled desire to tell people about Jesus. She eventually came to the Walled City of Kowloon, a dense jungle of over populated buildings caged inside a political mistake left independent of any government control. Within the
7 acres of land filled with crime, prostitution, drugs, and lawlessness Jackie has shown the love of Christ and through her enduring struggle with many prostitutes, drug addicts, and even gang leaders have found the love of Jesus Christ. She has truly become a fool to this world and makes us wonder how much we are conforming to the patterns of this world. Are we willing to become fools for the sake of Christ?
